Essentials to Re-Organize Your Drawer(s)
I re-organized my makeup drawer for the 100th time & I am finally satisfied! I know many of you understand how frustrating it is to see an organized drawer—trust me when I say, it’s 10 times worse when it comes to makeup! Thinking back, I have no idea how baby Jazzy dealt with a makeup bag because there’s definitely no organization there!
All supplies used are linked to my Amazon Store. Scroll down to Organization Saviors, then you’ll see the listed items to purchase!
Let’s get to it!
Remove evvverryythhiinngg from your drawer
I placed a towel on the floor, removed my drawer & literally poured everything out. It was lovely seeing an empty drawer & a shocker to see how much makeup I have.
Clean your drawer & makeup
We’re starting over here, so make sure everything is squeaky clean. If you are not lining your drawer, I advise you to dilute your cleaner or wipe down with water before placing your products back in. You don’t want those harsh chemicals in your makeup tools.
Measure your drawer to ensure the trays will fit properly. If you plan to line them, I used wallpaper!
I previously used a foam board but it takes up a lot of room (I didn’t notice this until step 1) & eventually wears down. Items used in video below: Self-adhesive Wallpaper/Shelf Liner & Drawer Organizer Set.
4. The tough part: go through your makeup, throw out what has expired & what you no longer use.
See Makeup Expiration Date Guide below Considering how much money we spend, It hurts checking makeup expiration dates because whaaaaaaaaat?!
5. Line your drawers (make sure the drawer is dry after cleaning)
6. Place your trays: I had fun here, it felt like a puzzle
7. Organize your makeup as you please!
I organized my trays by type, except for one/two, I organized those by uses..i.e. The concealer brush is with my concealers; my contour brush is with my bronzer palette & my lashes are with my setting powders because those are usually my last two steps. I had a bit of space around the perimeter of the trays, so I placed my travel sized makeup palettes there, as well as my lipsticks & glosses.
8. Admire the greatness you’ve created!
