Las Vegas is Overrated Baby
Let me start by saying… I absolutely enjoyed my tour stop in Las Vegas. It was a great experience; howeverrrrr, that doesn’t mean the LV Strip is on the top of my list to return to. I’m glad I did my research to book activities & gather a content plan upon arrival! I highly advise everyone to do so.
Where’s the Destination?—half of my teenage years, my parents & I lived in the Bahamas. The “move” for teenagers every…single…weekend, was to go to The Atlantis & walk around Marina Village. That’s all we did: walked through a village, beach, hotel & casino—bought Starbucks, pizza, admired our crushes & get into Club Rush (if you were lucky). It was so much fun but every time I think back, my immediate thought is always, “wwhyyyy was walking around so cool?! Wheerree were we going?!” So seeing all of this again, made me feel like a teenager who was allowed to drink.
Mediocre Drinks—the strip is filled with daiquiris shops. I love a tasty Pina Colada, but the amount of daiquiri bars were ridiculous & the lines made us think they were selling something beyond alcohol. If you go & want something different, you’ll only find it at a restaurant or the Candy Martini Bar (super cool spot, sweet af but cool).
Casinos—I know this is the primary reason to go to Vegas & I thought I loved the casino, until I arrived. I went three days without playing, when usually, I run to the tables. The amount of people & smoke turned me off. Seeing obsessive & addictive gamblers was an experience. I saw people leaving the casino at 6:30 a.m., broken & distraught—just to see them again later in the afternoon running to a table while facepalming themselves.
Oyster Bar—the first meal in LV was trash!! Oyster Bar is definitely overrated & should probably be number 1 on my list. I’m not a fan of dressed oysters… it completely takes over the taste. Unfortunately, the Oyster Bar only offered those… so I tried them (grilled garlic parmesan) & let me tell ya… horrible. $39 spent on a disgusting dozen. If I had more time, I would’ve flown back to San Diego, CA, for the most delicious oysters at Barbusa.
“What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!!!”—we live in the world of social media. Nothing stays in Vegas, it’s just a longer way to say YOLO before you do something you’re nervous about.
That’s all! As I mentioned, it wasn’t a bad trip at all, I loved it, especially horseback riding—checkout the pictures here!! It’s just one of those… “Yep! Been there, done that… no need to return!” But!! I will return to the mountains & desert aannyyy day! Heck, I may go back next month.
Thanks for the experience Vegas!!
