Travel Hacks

Travel smarter, not harder

    1. Search your flight(s) via Google & turn on the flight tracker. You will receive email notifications as prices increase & decrease. P.S. if you receive a sudden price drop alert, act fast!

    2. Avoid traveling on Fridays, Sundays & Mondays. Those prices will always be the highest.

    3. The best days to book depends on the date of your trip & the destination. When booking in advance, you’ll always see the best prices. The golden days used to be Tuesdays & Thursdays.

    1. JetBlue

An overall favorite—from their policy, cleanliness & customer service.

    2. Delta

An overall favorite—the pandemic triggered my love with Delta. The size of their planes are lovely.

    3. American Airlines

Con: High delay & cancellation rate. Avoid flying the day of an event.

Pro: You can save your seat & the flight price for 24 hrs (free) or 72 hrs ($5).

    4. Southwest

Con: Seats are chosen for you.

Pro: Two free bags & great customer service

I haven’t flown with this airline in yearsss! In college, I loved their bag policy but as I fell in love with packing lighter & having control over my seat, they were no longer beneficial to me.

  • Don’t weight yourself down from the start of vacation by overpacking.

    1. Don’t check a bag unless you absolutely need to. This saves a load of time.

    2. Packing cubes will save you an exceptional amount of space.

    3. Plan your outfits in advance (sometimes I take photos).

    4. Be realistic you don’t go through six different outfits at home.

    5. Make a packing list.

    6. If checking a bag, never check the essentials.

  • Pack your own travel-sized Lysol spray, wipes, sanitizer, gloves & etc. Don’t depend on the airport or airlines to provide you with sanitary items. Pack your own & save what’s provided as extra.

  • Expired “surprises” are no fun but Passport Relief is apparently the solution?!

I have never tried this service but it’s worth sharing, as the U.S’ Passport process is insanely old school.

  • It’s worth it & inexpensive. As an early morning traveler, I was never too concerned about TSA Pre-check, but after a few mid-day flights, I realized it is necessary to have.

TSA Pre-check: “A smoother screening process – no need to remove shoes, belts, 3-1-1 liquids, laptops, or light jackets.”

  • Have a separate pouch or designated area for these items only, so you don’t find yourself digging through your bag.

I think we all know, men are much better at this than us women lol
