Planning the Ultimate Trip

  • Don’t allow social media to be your only source of research to choose a location. As we all know, social media will showcase the glam more than the truth. Take the time to use Google and search the tourism in that area.

  • If the destination is international, make sure everyone actually LOOKS at their passports & send a picture to the group. Expired surprises are. the. worse. & can truly put a damper in everyone’s budget.

  • Save yourself the headache & only invite those who you know without a doubt are responsible & dependable. There’s so much trust & safety when it comes to planning a trip.

  • This will play a part in deciding on the location & hotel. Although the world has adjusted (or is adjusting) to living with COVID, many countries & cities still have restrictions & vaccine mandates. So take note, ensure you all search carefully & stay up-to-date regarding travel changes.

  • Discuss budgets individually, before creating a group chat, as many people prefer not to discuss their finances with everyone. This also ensures no one feels pressured by others to state a higher budget than they can afford.

  • This is when it starts feeling real! I usually create a group via WhatsApp, if everyone doesn't have an iPhone.

  • Do this to keep plans on track & ensure nothing is left last minute. You want a deadline to book flights, hotels, rental car(s) & etc. Timelines also helps to keep finances on track.

  • Everyone won’t be as adventurous as the next, so know what everyone is comfortable with. Keep in mind, time away from home is normal for some & completely unusual for others.

  • The number one rule should always be, “No Man Left Behind!” Especially for the ladies.

Other rules may include safe words, no guests, designated drivers & etc.

  • Don’t stress booking every single adventure, only book the “must do” activities. You don’t want to overbook & have rushed days. Who likes to vacation on a full blown schedule anyway?!

  • Please discuss! As a group, take note of everyone’s allergies & food preferences.

  • Create a note that only includes the confirmed plans: flight & hotel info, completed/pending payments, transfer information & booking receipts. Having one location to refer to for full updates will keep everyone on the same page.
