The Secret to Self-Discipline: Start with Self-Discovery

To anyone struggling to find/learn who they are, start by learning your body.

I know I sound like a broken record at this point but our bodies hold the secret key(s) to life that so many of us search for. Quite frankly, I think it’s impossible to impose self-discipline, without learning your body first.

Our bodies communicate mentally, physically & emotionally but many people don’t hear the cues due to a lack of self-discipline. So before you decide to make an extensive to-do list that you won’t go back to after writing, take a moment to sit/lay alone & stretch then set an intention to be more mindful of your body’s reactions.

Take note of what captures your interest & what makes you feel disengaged:

  • What topics make your heart race?

  • What causes you to roll your eyes?

  • What do you catch yourself daydreaming about?

  • What makes you feel determined?

  • Feeling jealously/envious? ...it happens!

  • Pinpoint exactly what may have caused your body to feel this way.

Recognizing these differences can help you make intentional choices that align with your true self and well-being.

Feelings are usually a reaction to our mind, a reflection of our inner thoughts & perceptions. By taking the time to be more aware of your body's reactions and recognizing the cues it provides, you begin a journey of self-discovery.

This process allows you to better understand what truly resonates with you, what ignites your passions & what may be causing you discomfort or negative emotions. Embracing this awareness empowers you to make intentional choices that lead to a more fulfilled and authentic life. As you embark on this journey of self-discovery through your body, remember that it's a process & each step brings you closer to a deeper understanding of yourself.

So, take that first step today. Sit or lay alone, stretch & set an intention to be more mindful of your body's cues. Listen to what it's telling you & you'll discover a world of insights waiting to be explored.
